Karen (McGEE) Pless

Classmate Karen (McGee) Pless raised a son and three daughters.  She graduated from MSU in 1992 with a BA in Studio Art and Art Education as a sculptor/ceramicist. She moved to Alaska 1993 and worked as a commercial fisherman for three years.  After that, she became a heavy equipment operator.

What Karen is most known for in Alaska is her ice sculpting.  She participated in the 1999 Multi-Block and the 2000 Single and Multi-Block competitions.  She designed and built with Team Meltdown the 2000 abstract Multi-Block gold medal winner.  In 2001 and 2004, Karen was a World Ice Sculpting Gold Medalist in Fairbanks. While Karen works in Alaska, she calls North Carolina home.
