Karen (McGEE)
Pless
Classmate Karen (McGee) Pless raised a son and three daughters. She graduated from MSU in 1992
with a BA in Studio Art and Art Education as a sculptor/ceramicist. She
moved to Alaska 1993 and worked as a commercial fisherman for three
years. After that, she became a heavy equipment operator.
What Karen is most known for in Alaska is her ice
sculpting. She participated in the 1999 Multi-Block and the 2000
Single and Multi-Block competitions. She designed and built with
Team Meltdown the 2000 abstract Multi-Block gold medal winner. In 2001
and 2004, Karen was a World Ice Sculpting Gold Medalist in Fairbanks.
While Karen works in Alaska, she calls North Carolina home.
